Welcome to the world Brady! ~3 weeks New~
Newborn photography is my jam. And one of my favorite ways to capture these new little ones is by doing Lifestyle sessions.
Nothing is more sweet than capturing a sweet baby in their new nursery…all carefully set up and made just for them weeks and sometimes months before they arrived. This little guy’s nursery was positively adorable . I was so excited to capture him in it. Just check out that sweet teepee and the perfect color coordinated walls and mobiles??
Not into lifestyle photography? That’s ok! I offer adorable posed newborn photography in my studio as well!
This sweet little dude was just SO fun to work with . Mom called me and was hoping to get him in for a session as little guy had been born 6 weeks early and hadn’t gotten in for a session yet. Luckily, this little man slept through it all and was just a rockstar in his posing and even cracked a couple sweet smiles for us.
She is one of the happiest little people I’ve met. I was rewarded with soooo many beautiful smiles
during her session… so much so that I couldn’t stop smiling myself. I mean, who can’t smile when they see that contagious,
gummy grin staring right back at you ?
Olive is set up with my Watch Me Grow baby’s first year plan.
I get to see this little bundle of cuteness every 3 months which is always so fun to see
her change and show off all her new skills each time I see her.
I positively love capturing Birth Stories. When a long-time friend and client contacted me and asked me to capture her 3rd baby’s birth at Mercy Birthing Center with the midwives, I had to say yes. I delivered my youngest with the midwives at Mercy and couldn’t think of a better place to capture a birth. The midwives and nurses at MBC are positively amazing and I was thrilled I’d be able to capture them in action! I got the call right when I was putting my own baby down for a nap. Dad sounded anxious and told me mom’s water had just broken and they were heading in NOW.
I quickly called my sitter and was at MBC within the hour. When I got there, mom was extremely uncomfortable as labor started very fast for her. After several more hours of laboring, we found out mom and baby had an infection and they’d need to do an emergency csection. Mom was a ROCKSTAR with how she handled everything. The midwives got her into the OR and within minutes, a beautiful little cry was heard and Serenity Rose made her appearance. This beautiful girl arrived earthside true to her name. Such a calm and quiet baby….and so, so alert! Dad was all smiles.
Mom got to visit with baby Serenity as they prepared her for recovery and dad got lots of baby snuggles.
Once in recovery, mom and dad Facetimed grandparents and older siblings . The kids were thrilled to have a baby sister and there were lots of smiles all around the room listening to big sister talk to her newest little companion. It was such a pleasure to be there capturing Serenity’s first Birth Day.
Sometimes birth plans don’t work out. But every birth is beautiful in its own special and amazing way and I was so very happy to be there to capture it. Happy birthday sweet girl and congratulations to this beautiful family of 5.
I couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous evening for this session with the beautiful Eckerle family!
I think of all sessions, my favorite is a fresh 48 session. There is something about coming into a hospital room or birthing center and meeting the proud parents , excited siblings, and squishy, perfect new little baby all bundled up in the bassinet. Seeing those amazing, big bright windows, crisp, white sheets, and the overall cheerful atmosphere that just envelopes you as you walk in the door.
I just loved meeting little Henry’s family. He was the cutest little dude. I had the privilege to be there when big sister Claire met him and it was adorable watching her flit back and forth around the room… pausing ever so often to check out this new little stranger who everyone was paying attention to. I think Claire is going to have a lot of fun with her new little playmate.
These two boys were positively precious . From start to finish I think they woke only once. I got many smiles and of course loved all the snuggles.
I have been horrible about updating my blog, but I HAD to post this of little Lennox. With that dark, long hair and sweet little face. He was just a doll ! Welcome to the world little guy!
It (quite literally) feels like yesterday that I was at her house taking Maggie’s newborn pictures. This sweet girl has grown more beautiful each time I see her. Just check out that gorgeous, long hair! We did Maggie’s pictures in a lifestyle/documentary style and it was so much fun capturing everyone interacting and loving on little Maggie. She is one very loved baby girl.
Kendell was an absolute dream to photograph. This sweet girl slept her entire session. And she made so many soft coos and smiles. It was so much fun capturing her and her beautiful family. Big brother seemed extremely proud of his baby.
This background was actually the wall that Kendell’s daddy made for big brother’s room. How cool is that?
Of course, we had to get family pictures in front of it!
I LOVED this wall!
She had the most delicate little features.
This sweet boy wasn’t a huge fan of sleeping…but boy did he give me some of the sweetest smiles ever.
It was such a privilege to capture his newborn pictures.
I had the privilege to take the engagement pictures of a long -time childhood friend a couple weeks ago. The two were so perfect together. I truly can’t wait to see them tie the knot. Jannah is a big fan of donuts so we had to make sure we incorporated those into our session as well. Session took place on a amazingly off-season warm day in February at Busch Wildlife. It was the perfect day to capture the perfect couple! Congratulations Jannah and Andrew!
The best donut proposal I’ve ever witnessed!
This year, I’m excited to announce , that in addition to offering my regular in-home newborn sessions which include the posed newborn portraits along with a few lifestyle shots, I will be also now offering another option for newborn sessions!
“Simply Newborn” lifestyle sessions are now being offered as another option to capture your precious new bundle! These sessions are purely lifestyle/
This is Mylee.
Mylee is like most 14 year old girls. She stays very active in school. She plays trumpet; she’s in school band, choir, and plays defense in soccer.
Mylee ALWAYS has a smile on her face. She is goofy, she is funny, and she has a beautiful personality.
Unlike most 14 year olds , however, Mylee is battling Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening disease. It affects her lungs and pancreas. When it affects her lungs, it is hard for her to play the trumpet in her school band. Singing in choir, and playing soccer become difficult as well as her lungs become more and more affected by the disease.
Before participating in these activities, Mylie will use her inhaler.
“It sometimes slows me down, but most of the time, I will kick butt.
I will not be stopped because of my breathing. “
Because it has affected her pancreas,
Mylee also has CF-related diabetes. Some of Mylee’s daily struggles are making sure she is breathing ok and
keeping her blood sugars at a good number. She has to make sure she takes her pills and does her treatments to keep her lungs healthy.
She has to work harder than other kids to play her trumpet , play on the soccer team, and sing and hold the right notes in choir. But she does so without complaining.
“My daily routine is never boring! I basically wake up, check my blood sugar, take my medicine,
do my treatments, and then go to school. While at school, I take my blood sugar before eating lunch, do more school work , go home
and check my blood sugar again, eat dinner, do more treatments, take my medicine, test my blood sugar,
and then I go to bed. That’s on a good day though. “
Cystic Fibrosis won’t slow this girl down at all. She is a girly girl. She likes make up, doing her hair (currently, Mylee is sporting an awesome shade of purple which color stands for Cystic fibrosis!). She loves all things glittery, photography, and of course, hanging out with her friends.
“My friends and family really keep me going. Some people will say I have a very big
personality and that nothing is capable of stopping me”. (With this, Mylee, I can wholeheartedly agree!!!)
Mylee is one of the strongest kids I know. And I truly can call her one of my heroes. Mylee oftentimes
has to miss out on going out with friends because she has to receive treatments
or is in the hospital for lung troubles due to Cystic Fibrosis.
It is really hard for her to not be able to be with her friends. And yet, I still see smiles ….
“I hate going to the hospital. I miss out on a lot of stuff. I miss out on school, my soccer games, church, and activities with my youth group. I can’t go to sleep without doing my treatments. And I really hate that because no matter how late it is, I have to do them. I wish I didn’t have to do this stuff because I would be able to spend more time doing things I love! When my classmates find out I have CF, some of them will treat me different and treat me like I am contagious. This really hurts my feelings. ….”
I love to sing, dance, cook, and be the positive vibe in everyone’s life. When I’m positive in others’ lives, it helps me to remember that you ALWAYS have to stay positive through the good times AND the bad.
Mylee is a gift to everyone around her. Her contagious smile, bubbly personality, and amazing will and fight in her to make each day a great day, no matter what she is going through. Mylee is one of a kind. She is a fighter. And she truly amazes me through and through!
Mylee was admitted into the hospital again today. There was a lot of crackling in her lungs and her lung function went down.
Breathing is hard for her and she was grateful to be admitted. Tomorrow, they will fight CF. And I believe Mylee will win.
There needs to be a cure. No girl of 14 should have to go through this.
They are still working to try to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis by searching for new drugs and doing clinical trials.
Please consider donating to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation today. Kids like Mylee are fighting this battle daily.
How amazing would it be if they could find a cure next year?
Will you help join in the fight?
I love first birthday sessions for a variety of reasons…. the babies are at that age where their little personalities are really blossoming. We always get tons of smiles, giggles, and faces. But my favorite part of first birthday sessions… is the cake smash ! Who doesn’t like watching a 12 month old dig into something seriously messy (but delicious).. the look of surprise and wonder in their face as they’re encouraged to eat more and get messier! Then it’s into the little vintage bath tub I bring along.
Evelyn is such a sweet baby. She was so curious by everything I did. Her parents did a phenomenal job on her nursery! So of course… I just HAD to get some pictures in there first!
Peek a boo!
She is such a loved baby! I am just in love with her blue eyes!
Next, it was onto the studio portion of her first birthday pictures.
Such a smiley girl!
I’m obsessed with her crown.
And finally… the cake.
You want me to do what with it???
Bathtime! It was much more exciting when rubber ducky joined the party.
